Jackie Stallard was born in Harpenden, England, 1965. She studied German and
majored in Computer Science at Bristol University between 1984-88. Jackie involved herself with many Charities including OXFAM. She moved to Australia in 1989. After a brief stint in Ithaca, New York State she returned to
Adelaide in 1992. Jackie yearned to stay in Australia, becoming a citizen shortly after. She worked for many companies in Adelaide as a freelance computer consultant before changing her career path in early
2000 after a bad case of Ross River Fever.
Writing became her passion and with a love of the bush cultivated by trips to the Pitjantjantjara lands, Corner country and Simpson Desert commenced writing numerous Short Bush Stories, many of which have been published and read on ABC Radio. After meeting Karsten in 2000 Jackie has settled here in Birdsville and together they now have two beautiful children, Indigo and Kara. Jackie is studying writing long distance through TAFE, developing a novel, and writes numerous stories for publications such as Outback Magazine.
Since in Birdsville she has also developed her skill with the camera and much of her work is on display in the Blue Poles Gallery. Playing viola, and having sung a cappella in Adelaide, Jackie’s vocal talents compliment Wolfgang & Karsten’s work in the recording studio, with some of the results available at our on-line shop
With the children starting school, 2008 has seen Jackie and Karsten close the Big Red Cafe, and relocate to the N.S.W. south coast. Jackie is still currently writing, with many projects in development.
