David was born in 1967. He grew up in Sydney's north in the Seaforth area and briefly attended Balgowlah Boys High School before becoming a border at Trinity Grammar School, Summer Hill where he spent 4 years until completing his HSC in 1984.

David immediately began working for NCR Australia as a field engineer and worked full time whilst obtaining his Electronics Engineering Certificate at TAFE at night.

After 2 years he began working with Clegg Driscoll Consultants (now known as Sanderson CDC) in North Ryde in a customer technical support role. The company focussed on design, creation and implementation of computer based hardware and software solutions. After 2 years David was advanced to the role of senior technical consultant and after a further 5 years in that role he became the Technical Services Manager - a position he held for 7 years.

David's expertise is network design and integration, where in today's market the internet, remote connectivity and e-commerce plays a major part.  

When he and Michelle established I.T. Beyond Pty Ltd. they chose to relocate their personal life and business to the state of Western Australia after a long and restful trip around Australia by 4WD (see ExplorOz - Journal for more information).

Today, remote connectivity has enabled I.T. Beyond to continue servicing our eastern states clients, yet we also have a growing client base in Perth Western Australia.

Aside from client projects, David also operates the technical side of the www.ExplorOz.com website, that is owned, developed, and managed by I.T. Beyond. 

This website was launched in 2000 and has been evolving ever since. Originally established as a web-business, the site is an interesting case-study as it not only combines the latest in interactive web features but it provides these to an audience of over 380,000 user sessions per month, and over 20 million hits per month and generates its own revenue via an online shop and advertising fees.

David has developed the entire ExplorOz website including all software components and coding. All features you see on ExplorOz are possible for redesign/customisation for your business website.

Recently, David has been developing  dynamic mapping software purely for the internet called iMapPlot. This is a full Spatial GIS Internet mapping tool that has numerous applications. The ExplorOz website demonstrates a few possible uses, but commercial applications are endless.

Michelle Jacka

Michelle was born in 1968. She grew up in Sydney's north in the Kuringai Chase area in North Turramurra. In the early 1980s her family relocated to Parkes in Central West NSW as part of the Parkes Radiotelescope Halleys Comet project. Michelle was fortunate to experience country living and like many country teenagers attended boarding school to complete her final years. Michelle went to N.E.G.S in Armidale NSW where she completed her HSC in 1985.

She and her family returned to Sydney in the late '80s and Michelle then obtained a Diploma of Teaching (K-6) at Kuringai UTS and began her teaching career at the prestigious Ravenswood School for Girls in Gordon on Sydney's northshore.

Another travel opportunity arose for Michelle, which saw her relocate to Darwin in the Northern Territory. She obtained work at the Northern Territory Newspaper as an Advertising Consultant. After 2 years in the private sector, she never returned to teaching.

After returning to Sydney in 1993, she was keen to further explore the private sector and persevered with various marketing/admin roles until she find her niche in the Yellow Pages Pre-Press Division where she took up a Training role and later a management role heading the Ad Production Department of 50+ staff.

After some exhausting years, having greatly experienced life in some diverse parts of Australia and building a wide repertoire of skills and interests she and David were able to combine forces to establish their own business - I.T. Beyond Pty Ltd.

After their long and restful trip around Australia by 4WD (see ExplorOz - Journal for more information) they chose to relocate their personal life and business to the state of Western Australia, where they have lived since January 2000.

Michelle's major role is development, management and sales of online advertising campaigns offered to ExplorOz clients. She is also the site editor - with around 27,000 site pages to oversee and fortnightly e-newsletters to distribute to over 18,000 recipients, along with regular composition of new articles on the site.

Michelle and David have 2 daughters, Leah and Chardae.
